Who we are

PayUpp ("we", "us") is a group expense-splitting app available at www.payupp.fun. For any privacy question or request, contact us at santiborzone@gmail.com.

What we collect

  • Account data: your email address and display name, provided when you sign up with email or through Google or Apple sign-in.
  • App data: the groups, members, expenses, comments and settlements you create in the app.
  • Technical data: standard server logs (IP address, browser type) kept by our hosting providers for security and reliability.
  • Usage analytics: PayUpp uses PostHog, hosted in the European Union, for product analytics on the app and on www.payupp.fun: which pages are opened and which actions are taken. The website sets no cookies for this; the app keeps an analytics id in your browser.

We do not collect payment card details. Settlements are recorded, not processed.

A payment method you add (a Bizum number, a Revolut tag, an IBAN, bank details) is text you choose to show other people so they can pay you. You choose who sees it in Account → Privacy: people in your groups, anyone with one of your split links, or nobody until they ask and you say yes. PayUpp staff with database access can read it. Deleting your account deletes it.

Payment suggestions: if you turn on Payment suggestions in the Android app, PayUpp reads the notifications of a fixed list of bank and wallet apps on your phone. If you set up the Shortcuts automation in the iOS app, PayUpp receives what that automation passes to it. Either way it is only to find the amount and the shop of a card payment, and it happens on your phone. The text is not stored: the phone keeps only the last suggested amount, when it was, and a daily count, so it does not repeat itself. Nothing is sent to us unless you tap the suggestion and create a split.

Sign-in with Google or Apple

If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive only your email address and name from that provider. We never see your Google or Apple password, and we do not access any other data from those accounts.

How we use your data

We use your data only to run the app: authenticate you, show shared expenses to the members of your groups, and send account emails such as sign-up confirmation and password reset. We do not sell your data, show ads, or share your data with third parties for marketing.

Where your data lives

Data is stored with Supabase in the European Union (AWS eu-west-1, Ireland). The app is hosted on Vercel. A copy of your session is kept in your browser's local storage so you stay signed in; the optional demo mode stores its sample data only in your browser.

Sharing within groups

Expenses you add to a group are visible to the other members of that group. That is the purpose of the app. Do not add information you do not want group members to see.

Your rights

You can ask us to export or delete your account and its data at any time by emailing santiborzone@gmail.com. If you are in the EU/EEA, you also have the rights granted by the GDPR, including access, rectification, erasure and portability.

Changes

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we will update this page and the date above.
